Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 26, 2026

This policy explains what information Ask Korea (askorea.net) collects, why, who processes it, and the choices you have. We do not sell personal data.

What we collect

If you sign in to use the Q&A

When you browse the site

Cookie consent

Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity set cookies, so they are off until you choose Accept in the cookie banner. Before you choose, and if you choose Reject, the site doesn't load them and sends nothing to Google Analytics or Clarity. We also set Google Consent Mode to “denied” by default.

You can change your choice at any time with (also in the footer of every page). If you withdraw consent, we delete the analytics cookies we can reach from askorea.net and reload the page without the analytics tags. Cookies Microsoft sets on its own domains (such as MUID) can only be removed in your browser settings.

Rejecting cookies doesn't affect the guides or the Q&A. Signing in to the Q&A uses Google Firebase Authentication, which stores your sign-in state in your browser; it is needed for the service, so it isn't part of the analytics choice.

Analytics we use

Google Analytics 4 (only with your consent)

We use Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google) to count visits and see which pages are useful. It sets first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_<ID>, which last up to 2 years) and collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Microsoft Clarity (only with your consent)

We use Microsoft Clarity (provided by Microsoft) to understand how people use pages, through heatmaps and session recordings of clicks, taps, scrolling and mouse movement. Clarity masks text you type into forms. It sets cookies such as _clck and CLID (up to 1 year) and _clsk (1 day), and Microsoft may set MUID. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement and the Clarity cookie list.

Cloudflare Web Analytics

Our host, Cloudflare, provides Cloudflare Web Analytics: page-view counts and page-load performance. It doesn't use cookies or local storage and doesn't build profiles of individual visitors, so it isn't covered by the cookie banner. See Cloudflare Web Analytics and the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

How we use information

To run the site and the Q&A, show your questions and their answers, keep your account signed in, prevent spam and abuse, reply to feedback, and improve the site.

Who processes it

These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States.

Public and private questions

Public questions and their answers can be seen by anyone. Private questions are visible only to you and the site admin. Your email address is never shown publicly.

We may also publish a selected public question and its answers as a separate answer page, so other travelers can find it. We only do this after an editorial review, we skip anything that looks like it contains personal details (names, contact details, social accounts or booking numbers), and private questions are never used. To have a page taken down, email askorea.help@gmail.com.

Retention and security

Q&A content and feedback are kept until you ask us to delete them or we no longer need them to run the service. Analytics data is kept according to each provider's retention settings. We use the security controls of our providers and limit admin access.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your account data and posts. Email askorea.help@gmail.com from the address you signed in with, or tell us which address it was. Some records may be kept if the law or security requires it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
